Jr Lions Play First GameNovember 2nd, 2008; by Art Marchesini
The North Hunterdon Jr. Lions Ice Hockey team composed of middle school students who will attend North Hunterdon High School in the coming years played their first game of the 2008 - 2009 season against the Pioneers of Somerville . It was an exciting game as the Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period until Brendan Hille scored on a breakaway with 1:40 to play in the period. North tied the game early in the 2nd period when Jack Marchesini took the puck from behind the net and put it past the Pioneer goalie. North kept pressure on the entire game but fell short as the Pioneers added a goal in the 3rd period to win 3-2. A great effort for the North Jr. Lions and a bright future for North Hunterdon Ice Hockey. Team: Mickey Avernos, Chad Lundeen, Connor Snee, Benjamin Bala, William Campbell, Derek Guenther, Mark Harrel, Teeghan Higginbotham, Brendan Hille, Blaise Hudak, Jack Marchesini, Kyle Stenberg and Ryan Sweeney.
