North Defeats Columbia Prep and Hunterdon CentralDecember 21st, 2008; by Jim Schwanda
After losing for the first time in eleven games last week, the North Hunterdon Ice Hockey Club returned to their winning ways by defeating Columbia Prep and Hunterdon Central. Thursday North traveled to Riverside Park in New York to defeat Columbia Prep 8-3. Senior Greg Mustillo lead the way with two goals both assisted by Mark Warner and Mark Schwanda. Freshman Zach Bennedsen collected his first goal of the season while Greg Garcia, Jordan Gianos, Ben Marchesini and Alec Schleicher also tallied with sophomores Wyatt Kunzman, Taylor Lee and Dan Seminara adding helpers.
Kyle Fischbach made 18 saves in net for the victory.
Saturday night North dropped Hunterdon Central 8-0 at Aspen Ice in Flemington as goaltender Kyle Fischbach needed to make only 11 saves to earn his first shut out of the young season. Junior Greg Garcia scored a hat trick and freshman Jimmy Pytell found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Jordan Gianos added a goal and two assists while Kunzman, Mustillo, and Schwanda also scored.
The North Lions improved to 5-1 on the season and face off against Somerville next Saturday and against Voorhees on January 3rd.
